Anti-seal La Jolla Group ATTACKS Local Wally!

Who doesn't love the seals on the beach in La Jolla?  I found out for myself when I was minding my own business with my daughter as we watched the seals and I made a pro-seal comment.  Before you knew it, some LUNATIC is IN MY FACE telling me I didn't know what I was talking about.

DON'T CALL US ANTI-SEAL, WE'RE PRO BEACH ACCESS!!!!!!

Yeah, right.  Tell that to the seals.  Come on dude, there's a lot of beach in San Diego. Where?  Umm, how about 50 yards in either direction?  It's not like terrorists have taken over Casa Beach.  It's not like Rosie O'Donnell is on the beach in a bikini!  They're seals!  They're cute!  And they were here long before you were so get over it.

YOU'RE PROBABLY NOT A LOCAL!!!!  I USED TO DIVE HERE.  ASK ANY LA JOLLAN!!!!

Hey buddy, you really think you speak for all locals and all La Jollan's?  I've lived here nearly my entire life and sorry, I vote for the seals.  Look, I'd rather look at some cute seal basking in the sun than your fat angry face. On a scale of 1 to 10, seals rate a 10 and you rate, well, is zero too high?  And really, when Ellen Browning Scripps dedicated the seawall to the children, I don't think she mumbled "and F-Off seals".  In fact, I bet she would be pretty pissed off if that lunatic was in her face telling her she didn't know what she was talking about.

No matter how hard I tried to get this guy out of my face with comments like "Hey, I don't want to debate" and "Look, leave us alone" he would not back off.  This guy was from the lunatic group that wants to ban the seals and all I can say is they should check his meds and maybe next time leave this clown home.  Who knows, maybe this is part of their strategy to scare off the pro-seals people and tourists.

So here's my strategy - don't get into a fight with these guys.  But do get involved by emailing the City Council members and Mayor telling them you support turning this area into Marine Mammal Park.  Go to http://lajollafriendsoftheseals.org/help.html to get the email addresses. Even if you're not a local, write them and support the seals.

And maybe ask them to help us keep the lunatics like the ANTI-SEAL ACTIVISTS out of our faces by putting them behind a rope - far, far away.

SUPPORT THE SEALS!  http://lajollafriendsoftheseals.org/
Pass this message on!  Help the seals remain on the beach!

awesome! I have been going down there a lot this past year and have been totally disgusted with the lunatics down there. It seems like everyone has lost touch with the actual issue, the seals. Great blog!

Thanks for the post! Because of these guys I've decided to do a charity project this year to help the seals. I'll be starting up a new website called SanDiegoHomegrown.com where local musicians can post their songs about San Diego and people can download them with all proceeds going to Save the Seals. If you know of anyone who wants to help, have them contact me at wally@localwally.com.

just like another moron from somewhere else telling us how to use our beach, the seals don't need lifeguards but the children do, with only 3 lifeguarded stations in La Jolla you want me to take my children to a beach that does not have lifeguards, shame on you child hater.

Anti- seal morons go home...try love and compassion...turn on the news and see what real humanity looks like. We pro-seal activists will be spreading authentic peace and wisdom for a long time. Our kids are being taught kindness, respect and truth....get off your egotistical highhorses and simply go bully on some other planet far away!

Explain to me why you can't look at the seals on the other side of the wall, and in point loma, and just north of scripps pier, and in ob. With over 1100 seals in the area, why is it so necessary (even though the marine biologists say it isn't important) to be right there and not at any of the other locations they frequent?

Seals need to rest on a beach and be able to give birth and nurse on Casa Beach. It has been explained to you before I am sure. Put your spear down, do some soul searching and have a nice life!

Why? Oh why are you all so hell bent on giving up the ONLY MAN MADE BEACH in California to a MARINE (By the way this means water, as in the water is its home) MAMMAL? Also in case you did not know it is NOT an endangered species!! There are so many other animals and plants in this region that are going extinct but you all do not give a crap about them because they are not as cute, or..... Maybe it is because they are not in a high income/high tourist populated area. The only reasons these ECO-TERRORISTS are there is because of $$$$$ they do not give a crap about the seals only about the amount of money they make them by conning and lying to people to make them feel bad so they cough it up. That is the real travesty!! No one wants to hurt the seals they just want to enjoy a beautiful Man Made Beach that was donated to the CHILDREN of La Jolla and San Diego!!

I am sorry you can't see past the stupidity of all this. It saddens me that you can't even justify anything about your "cause" with out yelling, bullying people, and insulting them. I have been at CHILDREN'S POOL (at least get the name right so as not to look like you are walking all over Ms. Scrips grave)and the only bullying I have ever seen is from deranged people yelling at peaceful beach goers with bullhorns and scaring children and seals alike!! It is a disgrace to all Californians to have visitors see these so called "Seal lovers" screaming at children, harassing, and stalking people all because of a man made beach that has a few seals on it that are perfectly fine sharing this beautiful beach. Why don't you get off your high horse and slap on a wet suit and a snorkel and go swim with these amazing creatures! You might get a new viewpoint!

It is funny, I have a blog too, and I posted an article about the seal issue at La Jolla..and hundred of hits soared on the page, and tons of negative comments streamed through (I allowed the logical ones and denied the offensive ones) but it is funny how every offensive person uses a pseudonym. Great article, again, don't let these silly people bother you. Peace.
